ENHANCED ACCESS SCHEME
Evening and weekend appointments at GP surgeries
You can now access routine appointments in the evening and at the weekend if you are registered with a Somerset GP. The surgeries providing these appointments have changed from 1st October 2019 and are:
Wells Health Centre, Wells City Practice, Glastonbury Surgery, Vine Surgery partnership and Glastonbury Health Centre. We are all working together to deliver enhanced access to routine appointments in the evening and at weekends.
If you are registered at one of the above Practices, you may be offered appointments from 6.30 to 8.00pm, Monday to Friday, and some appointments on a Saturday.
Who can use the service?
Any patient registered with one of the above surgeries can request a routine appointment.
How do I make an appointment?
You can book one of these appointments by talking to the receptionist at your own GP practice during normal opening hours.
Please contact your own surgery to book one of these appointments.
You can also book a routine or telephone appointment online via patient access.
To book a same day appointment on a Saturday morning ONLY, please contact the practice providing the session that day as it’s likely that your own practice will be closed
Where does the appointment take place?
The receptionist will advise you of the time and location of your appointment.
You may need to attend your appointment at a neighbouring GP surgery, but you will be advised at the time of booking if you are unable to see a GP or health professional of your choice.
Health staff working evenings and weekends will have access to your medical records and will be able to provide the same high standard of care as you would expect during normal opening times.
